Lithuanian Technical Library hosted a group of 40
librarians from the Latvian Library Association.
Emilija Banionyte, Andromeda Zandaraviciene, Grazina Bastauskiene participated in the
International conference Libraries and Associations in the Transient World: New
Technologies and New Forms of Cooperation in Crimea, Ukraine. The trip was sponsored
by the RLP, Open Society Fund-Lithuania and Vilnius Pedagogical University.
August
The Library Council of Lithuania was established by the Ministry
of Culture. President of the LLA represents the Association at the Library Council.
September
15 librarians from Lithuania participated at the IFLA 63rd General Conference in
Copenhagen. Dr. A.Glosiene delivered a paper Marketing or Public Relations:
Strategic Choise of Lithuanian Libraries.
40 years anniversary of the Lithuanian Technical Library,
which hosts the headquarters of the LLA.
October
Under the co-operation agreement between the LLA and the Library Association of the Great Britain a
seminar on Public Library Management for 30 librarians from Lithuania was organised.

Visit to Tilze (Sovietsk), Kaliningrad district, Russia - preparation of the
establishment of the Martynas Mazvydas Library.
Delegation of the LLA participated at the Annual Conference of Lithuanian School
Librarians.

Emilija Banionyte and Alvyda Skuodyte participated in the seminar Libraries in the
Baltic Sea Area in Helsinki, Finland.
