23 rd Meeting of Lithuanian Librarians' Association, took place in the Lithuanian Medical Library.
29 th President of the LLA Petras Zurlys participated at the meeting of various
associations with the President-elect Rolandas Paksas.
February
26th Lithuanian librarians delegation participated at the Meeting of
Librarians Association of Latvia.
March
26th Lithuanian librarians' delegation participated at the meeting of the Committee of
the Development of Information Society of the Seimas of the
Republic of Lithuania. Libraries role in the information society was discussed.
April
23-30 National Library Week is held for the third time in Lithuania.
24th Delegation of Lithuanian Librarians Association: Petras Zurlys, the president,
Emilija Banionyte, vice-president and Zenonas Vaskevicius, board member were received by
the Prime Minister Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas. Requirements to raise salaries for
librarians were discussed.
25th Meeting of Lithuanian librarians was held on the stairs of the Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania. The
petition to raise salaries for librarians was signed and addressed to the Parliament and
the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
29th The Best Librarian of the Year Aword ceremony took place in the Ministry of Culture:

12th Conference The Role of the Library in the Information Society was held in
the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania.
June
9th-10th Vida Garunkstyte and Andromeda Zandaraviciene were delegated to participate at
the VIII Congress of Estonian Librarians, held in Viljandi, Estonia.

1st-9th World Library and Information Congress: 69th IFLA General
Conference and Council Access Point
Library: Media - Information - Culture was held in Berlin. 25 librarians from
Lithuania participated at the Congress.
September
24th The European Library (TEL) Final
Conference was held at the National Library of Lithuania .
October
22-25th 5th eICOLC Conference was held in
Elsinor, Denmark. Ausra Vaskeviciene and Emilija Banionyte participated.
27th Lithuanian librarians met with Latvian and Estonian colleagues to discuss
organizational matters of the Baltic Library Congress to be held on September 30 -
October 2, 2004 in Latvia and Nordic-Baltic Meeting of Librarians to be held in
2005 in Latvia.
November
20th-22nd Lithuanian Technical Library hosted a workshop Establishing Centres
for Lifelong Learning. Lecturers - Kathy Ennis and Leslay Noblett from the United
Kingdom. The workshop was organised by CILIP and
Lithuanian Librarians Association with the help of the British Council..
