26th - December 2nd A group of library and municipality professionals from Georgia
visited Lithuanian libraries.This was the first stage of the bi-latteral project of
Georgian Library Association and Lithuanian Librarians' Association. The goal of the visit
is to get acquainted with the projects implemented in Lithuanian libraries, to find our
how the Lithuanian libraries are acting as community information, cultural and educational
centres, services they provide for their readers, policies of library development and the
role of libraries in developing these policies. Professionals from Georgia visited
Vilnius, Kaunas District, Klaipeda, Silute, Kretinga, Utena, Zarasai Public Libraries as
well as the National Martynas Mazvydas Library of Lithuania and the Vilnius University
Library. The visit was funded by the Open Society
Fund-Lithuania.
